“Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of
naughtiness, and receive with meekness the
engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.
But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only,
deceiving your own selves”(James 1:21-22).
The implanted Word received with meekness is able
to save your soul (your mind, will and emotions).
Remember that the Word of God separates the soul
from the spirit. The Word of God received with
meekness causes your soul to agree with your spirit
as it is led by the Holy Spirit. First Peter 1:22 says
you purify your soul in obeying the truth through the
Spirit.
To receive the word “with meekness” means that
when the Word is revealed to us, we must adapt
ourselves to obey that Word. We are to be doers
of the Word. When we only hear the Word, but fail
to do it, we deceive ourselves. We cannot walk in
the spirit by the Holy Spirit unless we obey God’s
Word.
Do you want to be self-deceived or do you want to
walk as a child of light? Will you spend time in prayer
and in the Word, or will you spend time in the pleasures
of this world? No one can make these decisions for you.
